ARMY & NAVY C.S.L. 12-BORE SINGLE-BARRELLED TOPLEVER HAMMERLESS SHOTGUN, serial no. 44718, circa 1890, 30 1/4in. nitro reproved barrel with faceted breech-end and beaded border, the tube engraved 'ARMY & NAVY C.S.L. LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chamber, bored approx. 1/2 choke, removable striker disc, automatic safety with inlaid 'SAFE' detail, teardrop fences, border and acanthus scroll engraving retaining slight traces of colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/8in. stock including rubber recoil pad (perished), Hackett-type snap-on fore-end with horn finial, weight 5lb. 6oz.
